In 2026 Facilities Management Outlook, ISS China analyzed the gap between awareness and action on workplace performance. As market demands evolve differently across segments, this article focuses on FM trends among domestic office-based enterprises, exploring how premium workplace services enable high-performance organizational growth.

Trend 1: Balanced multi-dimensional value – efficiency as baseline, experience as upgrade

While upholding cost efficiency as a core bottom line, office-based enterprises are placing greater emphasis on integrating service quality with employee experience. Moving beyond basic operational KPIs, they are pursuing balanced, sustainable FM solutions that position facility management as a key driver of workplace experience and corporate competitiveness.

Data shows cost optimization and efficiency ranks as the top priority for office clients 76%, far above China’s all-industry average 63% and the global office average 57%. Supplier performance and service quality 48% follows as another foundational requirement.

Meanwhile, demand for employee experience and satisfaction reaches 38%, significantly outpacing China’s 19% all-industry average. Compliance & risk management 33% and sustainability & decarbonization 24% also exceed industry averages, forming a clear model: cost efficiency as the foundation, with employee experience, compliance and low-carbon initiatives as value-added priorities.

Trend 2: Leading workplace performance awareness, with room for improvement

Office-based enterprises have a deeper recognition of FM’s value and are more willing to invest in upgrading workplace quality.

Around 81% of domestic office clients acknowledge the positive impact of workplaces on organizational performance, well above China’s 64% all-industry average. However, compared to the 85% global average for office segments, there remains room for progress in workplace operations and full FM value unlocking.

As workplaces shift from pure cost centers to value drivers, unlocking their potential to fuel high performance has become a shared focus for business leaders.
